I think... Shewag & Ganguly should OPEN the innings in ODI. (Though Sachin has scored most of his runs in opening.... Now, that he has lost his sheen, let him settle & manage Middle order) Ganguly still is a Best Striker (and timer) of teh ball for that Opening slot in ODI. Though, he does'nt deserve to be in Test side, which please note.

Yes I totally agree with you Saurav Ganguly is a great opener in the one day format and with Sachin was one of the most destructive opening pairs in international cricket. Sehwag lacks consistency whereas both Sachin and Saurav both have scored more than 10000 runs averaging more than 40 ( only 2 players at the moment in cricket world!).

Before thinking of Ganguly opening with Shewag, Ganguly should come back to Indian Team which still hangs in balance. His performance in the future games in domestic cricket will only decide his fate. Once he comes back in the Indian Team, he should open with Shewag or if Shewag is not in the team with Sachin.

Saurav is the best player of spin in the Indian team. So he should be placed at No 4. The best opening pair is Sachin and Sehewag. If Sehewag, unfortunately, does not click/ perform, Ganguly should then be promoted up.

Particularly I do not agree his exclusion from the Test side. In my opinion, India should have the same elevan for both forms of the game.

i feel Saurav ganguly should be given a chance to open the innings.no doubt sachin is playing well there but due to lack of expereince in middle order sachin should play in middle order, besides he is in a phase of his life where he is playing an anchor role.In last couple of seasons our middle order is not good form.players are constantly changing.
tendulkar will provide stability in middle order. and saurav is fighting for his return.he has just scored a hundred in a domestic match.he has ample experience and fire power to open for india in world cup.

yes. i think he should be bak as an opener. but he should open with sachin because tendulkar has such a great confident and he would guide ganguly to his form provided there is no problems betwen the two.

I think he shouldn't be taken back at all in any of the two forms of the game. He should see the writing on the "WALL" and quietly retire to Kolkata and open a Rosogolla factory and live happily ever after.
