he said that religion should be banned, and i think thats an insult. a lot of us r very faithful to our religion, and what we believe in. is he atheist? cuz maybe he is discriminating people who r not atheists.

I'm not surprised. Elton has said some not so nice things about other celebs. He was also rude to the people or photographers ( I don't remember which one) in some other country that he visited and he ended up apologizing for that.
Maybe he's just seeking pubilcity or he's not so happy with his life so he says things like that. A person who's happy and content with his or her life will not say unkind things.
I don't think he should have said that. Every person has a right to his or her own religion. It's their right and he has no business telling people what their religion should be.

Please note that he said "ban organized religion." He also said "We are all God's people; we have to get along and the religious leaders have to lead the way. If they don't do it, who else is going to do it?" I happen to believe he's right. I'm not sure about banning it entirely, but people need to stop screwing things up and spreading hate. Religion is man made. God is not capable of hate or prejudice. These are all human traits. I knew people would fly completely off the handle about this, and not stop and really try to see what he was trying to say. Of course he's not saying he's an atheist. Read the whole article.

Elton John usually preaches peace..
Religious wars are some of the biggest causes of death in the world. Look at right now. Alot of the people are fighting over religion. And They've killed thousands.
Lets look at the CRUSADES.
Religion again.
Children's crusade - more religion and those kids were put to work as slaves..yay!
Even the US experienced fighting over religion.
Religion may be a great source of hope.. but its also one of the deadliest things out there.

Most gays are against religion because of what it says in the Bible about a man laying with another man. I love Elton but I don't care much for his unchristian view on religion.

That's not discrimination, he is stating his opinion. Obviously he is atheist. Just because he is a celebrity doesn't mean religion will be banned at his say so.

I find it ironic that he is perpetuating the exact "blind prejudice" he reports to hate. He doesn't know me or my heart. He doesn't know anything about me. His opinion isn't the only one that matters. And as an American I absolutely refuse to be feed my beliefs and opinions by pop culture.

he just thinks tht because he is famous, he can come up with theories and philosophies about life.
religion is about an individuals beliefs, and if eltion john doesnt agree then good for him, he doesnt have to. but he shouldnt use his influence to change peoples minds about religion. that is wrong.

i agree -- with HIM, religion should be banned for brain-washing people... i don't hate religion, i think it does some good for society, but in the end it's a bogus way of controlling people!
