My interview is at 9:00 tomorrow morning and for the past few mornings I've been waking up with a terrible sounding voice. And I have really bad sounding coughs that get caught in my throat. How do I deal with this at the interview? Should I bring a tissue to cough in or is that rude? And do I still shake their hands after I've been coughing in mine? HELP!

I think you should call to postpone the interview.. Tell them you are sick.

Call them up first thing in the morning, explain that you are not feeling well, and give them the option - would they prefer to interview you later on or how do they feel about you coming in while sick?

If you do go, make sure you get there a few minutes early and WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY in the bathroom. Make sure you take tissue, and cough into that tissue, using it in your left hand ONLY. If they offer to shake your hand, explain that becuase you are not feeling well, you would prefer not to run the risk of spreading the germs.

Buy some cough drops before going and see if that can help you to supress the coughs long enough to get through the interview.

Hopefully they will allow you to reschedule.

In either case, best of luck to you in the interview.

If you're contagious, you shouldn't go. You'll just gross them out and make a bad impression. If not, apologize in advance for the coughing, and let them know that you are so excited about the oppurtunity that you didn't want to reschedule due to sickness, and that you are no longer contagious but you'd still rather not shake hands since you are still getting over the cold. Bring tissues; it's thoughtful--not rude. And don't decline if they offer you a drink. You'll need some water or tea while you're in there. And don't apologize profusely every time you have a coughing fit--that will detract from the interview. Just turn away, say a quick "pardon me," and move on.

I would just be honest, call first thing in the morning and tell them you are sick and would like to reschedule for later in the week. I would definitely dispel the obvious and say "I know this sounds like the worst excuse in the book next to the dog eating my homework, but I wouldn't cancel last minute unless this was really urgent." If you just went, I can't imagine a sickly coughing person would stand much of a chance anyhow, so try to get things rescheduled!

I think you might consider to call the company and ask people there to re-arrange your interview time, it's no point to show your weakest side to your prospective employers and as you sick you could not show your best to them either. They might interview a whole lot others on the following days, so they might simply swap your interview time with the other candidate, therefore you can have your interview without under the influence of your illness.

Look at this as an opportunity to really impress them.

Call them and say something like, "I'm sick but I am planning on coming to the interview anyway. I just wanted to make you aware in advance so that we can maybe talk in a more open area so I don't pass it on to you or anyone else."

Perhaps they will choose to reschedule. Otherwise go.

Call, explain your situation, and ask if there is any way to re-schedule. If not, then get your body down there and do the interview. DO NOT shake hands, and explain why.

it depend on how sick u are, if its minor (headache, or something u can hide) i suggest selling them you are a little sick (in case something get from bad to worse) then go anyways, but if u are experiencing something far worse, (and possibly able to get the interviewee sick) then the choice is obvious and cancel, or postpone
also ask for a postpone first, if they say no, then cancel,
it would be rude to force yourself risking ur heath and theirs just for your job

also explain the situation, im sure they are nice about it

Tell them the truth.

Ask if they prefer to reschedule.

Will

If not, don't shake hands, bring tissue, and wask your hands before going into interview.

Be honest.

Definitely reconsider any thoughts you were entertaining about sleeping with the interviewer to get the job, or give him a raincheck, lest he curse you and reconsider an offer after he comes down with whatever fumunda you have.
