The truth is that Mollies will mate with platies but make sure you have only Male mollies and female platies. In that case they will surely breed. I have bred them many times and the result is usually speckled mollies.

In all the years i had them my Mollies never bred with my Platties or Swordtails. But then i had black Mollies. It is possible the green ones you can find in the wild in bayous in the south might cross breed.

They can mate, but they won't produce offspring. It really depends on the fish in question if they are interested in each other. Swordtail, and platties on the other hand can interbreed,
