IT IS NOT TOO EARLY - babies have been known to start teething from 2 months to 2 years

I would say yes - my 2nd bubba is 5 1/2 months old and at 4 months same thing happened

Is he extra drooly? Chew his bottom lip? Suck his hands? Tug at his ears? Grizzle a lot more than before?

These are all teething pre cursors - so is extra saliva.

Extra saliva causes acids in the belly to produce so they can digest food that might be coming. Hence the burning bum as the acids in the belly are in greater quantities.

Don't worry ... just change more often and try to use a barrier cream with zinc in it ( whiter creams)

If you are still worried please mention it to your doc when he gets his vaccinations on thurs

it could be teething, my son started teething at 3 months and got his first tooth at 5 months. It also could be that you are not changing his nappy quick enough once he has done a poo, and if left there, it starts to burn and cause redness. A little nappy rash from time to time is normal, so don't be too upset. Go to the doctor and they will make sure everything is ok and give you some reassurance, and they may suggest a good cream to start using on the red area. Trust your instincts. If it is teething, his gums will be red and swollen, and he may have other signs too.

When my baby wasn't feeling well and his poo was burning his bum, I started soaking him in the tub right after he filled his diaper. It soothed his bum and helped keep down the rash. My dr. recommended more than 10 mins but less than 15 after each bowel movement/or three times a day. Hope that helps!

Most definitely. Teething can cause a number of discomfort symptoms for babies. Even fever can occur. Keep a clean white wash cloth soaked in cool water. Allow your child to teeth on this. Note~ before immunization shots give your child a dose of Motrin/similar product.

it could be a number of things, if it doesn't stop in a day or two you should go ahead and take him to his doc. You can try doing an oatmeal bath on him it will make his bum feel better,my daughter got rashes terribly when she was young and was allergic to every cream i tried, and the baths helped her
it's a little early for teething

Never knew that teething had anything to do with rashes on bottom.

My son is now 19 mths old and my standard practice is to change his diaper immediately after poo. For every change I wash his bottom with soap, pat dry it with towel and then put some mustard(sarson) oil.
if he ever gets a rash (which he did when his diaper wasn't changed immediately), i put the oil on his bottom and just leave him like that for a few minutes b4 putting the diaper on him.
Mustard oil is known for its anti-septic and healing properties.

Hope it works. Good luck with the teething phase!! :)

Yes, it could be teething. Try Weleda nappy cream - I have tried loads of different brands and it is by far the best. If it goes on for much longer though it couldn't hurt to check with the doctor.

Possibly but in all likelihood it's just a skin reaction to the wet diaper. Not much you can do aside from keeping him as clean and dry as possible and using diaper rash ointment on each diaper change.

it could be teething, but it could be nothing. It happens with babies. I used to rub a bit of zinc and castor oil cream around the area (you can get it from supermarkets and chemists)

It's possible, I would call and ask, sometimes "acidy" juices have something to do with that too, however call and ask because if for some reason he is sick i'm sure you know, but in case not, it is better to wait til he's feeling good to give him his shots.
