Breast pump (piston type is the best - believe me you do not want to get engorged & get a fever), breast pads - as you'll start leaking right away, hospital wont release her unless you have a infant car seat when you pick her up, great time to write those thank you notes, take your personal telephone book as you'll think of those you want to call & most of all buy yourself a beautiful robe for the hospital. You'll deserve it !!

Bring your toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, etc.). If you are particularly tied to your type of maxi pad then bring that, but personally I used the BIG ones from the hospital until after I was sent home (no tampons). Bring some slippers or slipper socks for yourself (you may be walking around that hospital a lot, or you may just want them for around your room) and maybe a robe (but you may just want to leave your nice robe at home, it may get blood on it). Bring something to do, some magazines, some playing cards if you have a partner, you may have to wait a while before the baby comes. Bring "What to Expect the First Year" or the baby book of your choice (I also like Dr. Sear's "The Baby Book"). Bring chapstick, snacks (hospitals don't have great food), food for your partner. Bring your iPod or whatever, you will be up a lot in the middle of the night feeding the baby, or checking on her. Don't forget the carseat for your car, you cannot leave without one. You do NOT need to bring diapers, diaper cream, or formula (if you are planning on using it). They have tons of these things at the hospital. You probably won't need breast pads until after you leave the hospital and the nurses can provide you with lanolin if you need/want it. You might want a calling card or your cell phone to call everyone with the joyous news. Whatever you do, SLEEP as much as you can from now until you leave the hospital. Bring something nice for you to wear to bring the baby home in, you will want to feel good and look nice (and remember, you will still look pregnant). Good luck!!!!

I always wondered the same thing. All I know is my mom always tried to get me to go shopping for a gown to wear at the hospital after the baby is born. This could help you feel more comfortable.

you will need clothes for going home and dont expect to get into pre pregnant sizes, i just took some maternity stuff, i took hair brush , shampoo, tooth brush and toothpaste, nightie and it had to be a nursing style, if i was going to nurse, you might take a few newborn diapers with you. oh i had to have slippers too.and i took a book to read but i dont think i even opened it.

F*CK IT GURL...
This is gonna be YOUR PURSE from now on. Fill it w/ baby gear and all the crap you would put in your regular purse.
Makeup, brushes, random papers, money, snacks, condoms...
You know... the usual.
Congrats on the baby to be!!
