My God daughter is 20, she's a lovely girl, very sensible, reserved and studious type. She has plenty of friends and has been on holiday with them in the past but they are too gregarious for her. She wants to go on holiday in Europe with other people of her own age but is DEFINITELY NOT an 18-30 candidate. Does anyone know of a suitable travel organisation/company that she could consider ?? Thanks for your time.

STA Travel do all sorts of group and solo travel activities for young people. They have branches in most major towns and cities, especially ones with a University. These aren't necessarily the gregarious type either. She will find like-minded people, no problem.

Look into going to Switzerland, anywhere but especially Interlaken and the German speaking areas, here the people are courteous and friendly but moreover there is a strrong sense of social conscious, a great mix of stunning scenery and if you like outdoor persuits but also culture and a lot of respect for what's right Also in summertime the place is stoked with young japanese tourists who are the epitomy of manners, order and good clean fun (when in public at least).

Why doesn't she just plan a route and go off by herself? I went on several train and bus based trips right round Europe when I was her age and had a superb time. Sometimes on my own for days, sometimes falling in with people I met along the way. It certainly gets you to thinking about the world and other people are always there if you need them. Do interrail tickets still exist? If so she's in for a treat...
