Okay in Australia SA would stand for the state of South Australia. In the text you are using it would stand for essay. I guess it is the slang of essay and i've never thought about it being spelt as sa.

well if ever you write an abbreviation of some word it always come with full stop at end well standard abbreviation for essay doesn't exit so write what ever you want
