assuming that there's faith, or soul mates, or any of that happy sappy romantic crap, all of it assumes that you're destined to meet someone, as in pre-destiny, as in the opposite of free will

would you rather feel loved for who you are and know that person chose you for that very reason, or that they had no choice, it was all "destiny" or "fate" because you're "soul mates"

not so romantic when you really think about it

Soulmate (or soul mate) is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep affinity, friendship, love, strong intimacy, sexuality, or compatibility.

A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul - thought to be the ultimate soulmate, the one and only other half of one's soul, for which all souls are driven to find and join.

However, not everyone who uses these terms intends them to carry such mystical connotations; they are sometimes used simply as an expression of strong emotional feeling for someone.

The above is a definition of soul mate. I feel that the last paragraph says what I feel most people mean when they say soul mate. I have seen several couples who loved their first spouse with these deep feelings then after the death of the first spouse have been fortunate enough to find this same deep feelings with another.

Good question, but a little odd.

Let's say you're supposed to start a impromptu concert at 9PM in the streets. You're preparing, and everything's made for exactly that time. The concert must start at 9PM, and does, becoming a wonderful blast.

Where must it be said that the concert was more dull because it was timed?

That's like those who are destined to love each other. The love is timed, yes. But the lovers don't know it. It's only after they've fallen in love that they understand they're soulmates.

It's still romantic. Think of all the movies you've seen where you don't know for sure until the end that the two were lovers. Once you know, however, you know they were soulmates.

Romance is a process, as is the love that ensues.

I believe in both. I think that there are soul mates, but sometimes they don't end up together. I think you can be happy with someone else, but it probably won't be to the extent you would be with your soul mate.
My parents are an example of this. They love each other, but I don't think they are soul mates. I think they are happy with each other because they have survived some hard times and they don't really care to know what it is like to have someone take your breath away like in the movies. A soul mate completes you the way no one else can so you would be happiest with them.

Don't believe in soul mates. Don't believe in destiny either. Romance does exist in the minds of the romance inclined. More power to them. Whatever. Whatever gets you through the night, it's all right. Not so romantic, but it's real. Romance is over-rated anyway.

there was this quote i once read, it went something like, about how soul mates arnt found, but they are made and grow.
That doesn't make to much sense, but basically its free will and when you meet some one and you grow to love them and build an amazing relationship, then that's a soul mate.

Some believe in destiny and some believe in fate, I don't believe in either because I know happiness and love is something I must create.

Hm... well, I think love grows... it's like a person by itself and it just grows stronger or weaker over the years... I don't think people are "destined" to do anything because it's not written in stone. If it is, then give me some explosives to blow up my destiny and do what I like to do.
