Why are the Republicans upset?

Because Americans really began to recognize the fascism in the Bush Administration and his Congress.

I'll post the 14 Characteristics of Fascism.

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

If you will look back through history, there have always been huge changes in the House and Senate in the 6th year of a 2 term president.
THAT is why. People have had 6 years on the same thing, and they wanted a change.
The Republicans are mad because they, very simply, lost. It is a natural response to losing, actually, and the Democrats were the same way every time they lost. The main differnce?
The Republicans didn't jam up the American legal system with lawsuits when they lost.

The Dem's won big because of one reason... the brilliance of our founding fathers, and the Constitution that they created. When one person or small group of people begin to seize too much power in our government, when their leader even ignores and violates the Constitution itself (the one they swore to "protect and defend"), the PEOPLE have the opportunity to reign them in with their vote every two years. That is exactly what happened in the 2006 election.

I have to admit that the Bushites and their evangelistic allies (NOT the Republican party) had me worried, but my faith was restored by the election. The People, whom the government is supposed to work for, saved the day with their vote.

As to why the Republicans are upset, it's only natural to be upset when you lose. Mainstream Republicans, however, are not the ones who are really upset. It is the plutocratics, and those who dreamed of a fundamentalist based religious oligarchy for America (thier own religious beliefs, of course) who are the ones who are really upset.

Evangelistic Christians (?) like James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and others have threatened to pull their support from the Republican party in the next election because the Repub's didn't deliver on their fundamentalist based anti-gay, anti-abortion, creationist agenda. How scary is that, when one single religion can have that kind of power, and could potentially rule the United States? Sounds like Iraq or Afghanistan under the Taliban, doesn't it?

God has saved America from the "Godly." And the American people have chosen Liberty, Freedom and Democracy, government by the PEOPLE, over government by the wealthy few and by the dictates of religious extremists.

If you took notice at what type of Democrats won, you will see that they are more to the center and not the Liberal side.

That is what a majority of America wants and that is why many Republicans helped elect them.

Republicans need to make that move to the center as well because if they don't, the same thing will happen in 2008.

Being too Liberal or too Conservative is not what American wants.

More people voted for them. The Republicans are upset because they wanted to win.

Why did they win.... because people want a change in the course.
Why are the republicans so mad.... because many are afraid their high crimes and misdemeanors will be found out.
Some are sore losers and others are raging because they cant bully things through any more and bullys always cry the loudest when they get their come upence.

this is a easy one. war in Iraq=FAILURE.hurricanes Katrina and Rita =FAILURE.Afghanistan=FAILURE.border security=FAILURE.education=FAILURE.these are just a few of the reasons.the American people had enough.6 years of a administration that did nothing for the good of it's own people.this administration could have been the best ever considering what all has happened in the past 6 years.instead they should be ashamed of themselves.
