Just blew in some cellulose last week on toop of my rolled fiberglass.

If your talking pre-exsiting ceiling and blowing in, Cellulose has a higher R-value and doesn't have the itch when you install it.

The rolls of fiber have a good R-value, blow in fibers not that great. The roll is harder to install and doesn't fill in small gaps and such very well, plus if its already insulated you'll have a huge job taking out the old.

If its a new wall or ceiling, I'd reccomend having the blown on expandable foam. Stuff is the best for r-value and reducing noise.

Hope this helped!

Cellulose insulation is usually a bad choice for walls. It has a tendency to settle, and this leaves you with voids at the top of the wall. It would be better to use a fiberglass batt or the foam products.

I'm not sure what its called, my what my father and I used was this pink, fuzzy, itchy stuff between paper that we could cut to fit into the spaces inside the wall. We just called it insulation, so I don't know if there is a more technical name for it. I do know that my home stays cool in the summer and is incredibly easy to warm in the winter, so the stuff really works. We got it at Lowe's Hardware.
