I LOVE HIPPIES!
They sure knew what they were on about. Universal love, peace, happiness, what's wrong with all that? Although I disagree on marijuana, I agree with euphoric elation! As long as nobody's getting hurt, be happy, by any means!

It all depends on who is defining them. To me, I love your expression. I am an OLD hippy, never was an anarchist , druggie, biker, low-life, none of those negative things. Always had a job and was responsible, doing my job, paying bills, keeping my home. At the same time, I have always been of the live and let live way of life, do no harm, respect for others and their possessions.
Our wedding rings are circlets of Peace signs, specially crafted, our mode of dress still reflects the 60's, very casual and colorful but appropriately modest.
Loved to follow the Grateful Dead's concerts in Las Vegas, 5 years in a row till Jerry Garcia died.
Still love most of the 60's-70's music.

I wanted to be a hippie when I was a teenager but my mother wouldn't let me. I look back now and they were really just a bunch of whiny war protesters with long hair who used marijuana. I guess back then I just liked their clothes and long hair but there's more to being a hippie than how they looked. It's so corny now what we thought was cool then.

Meh, hippies now and hippies then are two different things entirely. Hippies then were into hard work and sharing, they got high to see god. Hippies now want handouts and get high because its fun.

for the most part hippies are pretty cool, most i met are vegan or at least vegetarian, environmentaly friendly, politically active,resourceful, and worldly. the things i dont like is that many smoke pot, and have dreadlocks, (how dumb is that!? im sorry, but caucasians should feel blessed for having beautiful straight hair, tons of girls would kill to have hair like theirs!, ) and they look down on mainstream music, and fashion, YET they all dress alike, and like the same music.
