I looked it up and he was thinking - "please don't let them make this into a horrible movie that women use to torture the men in their life by making them watch it!"

I wouldn't doubt it - the Titanic was ill-equipped to deal with the tragedy. "Outside of great naval battles no tragedy of the sea ever claimed so many victims as did the loss of the Titanic. The pitiful part of it is that all on board the Titanic might have been saved had there been a sufficient number of lifeboats aboard to accommodate the passengers and crew."from The Sinking of he Titanic" by Mowbry. Only 16 lifeboats got away from the Titanic, and men were told they could not enter a lifeboat until all women and children were off, which didn't happen.

The man portrayed in the movie was Benjamin Guggenheim. He originally assumed that the collision was nothing serious and that they'd continue sailing while the ship would be repaired. He originally did wear a life jacket, but once he realized that he would not survive the sinking, he and his valet (Victor Giglio) returned to their cabin and changed into evening wear. He was later heard to remark, "We've dressed up in our best and are prepared to go down like gentlemen." He also gave a survivor a message saying, "If anything should happen to me, tell my wife I've done my best in doing my duty." Guggenheim, Giglio, and René Pernot (his chauffeur) were lost in the disaster. Their bodies, if recovered, were never identified.

Maybe this is what happened. There were women and children who didn't have enough life jackets. Maybe the man was kindly giving his to them by refusing it and knowing he was gonna die, wanted to get alittle drunk to help him to do that. It's just a possibility because I know it was a terrible shame for a man to get into one of the life boats or take a jacket before the women and children. Maybe he was being noble.

A few people are really like that, bored and disgusted with their own lives. See also Leslie Howard's character in the early 1930's movie, "Petrified Forest."
So people are fatally blase, it seems.

I am pretty sure that soem people did that. If you were pretty sure you were gonna die wouldn't you want to get drunk off your a**. I would have gotten shi*faced then put on my life vest and went on board and tried to survive though. But as far as whay was everyone thinking as a whole they were thinking "holy fuc*ing shi*"

I think they realized that they were doomed. At least a good moment before dying was worth, I guess.

personally i believe that there are many men who gave up their lives to put women and children on lifeboats. it is a shame that their resting place is being exploited.
