Oh, there are lots of hotels where you can choose. Please be careful of your belongings. But there's a safe place inside the University of the Philippines and it's the UP Hotel and the Balay International Hotel. Besides, the place is pollution free, too. You can try www.up.edu.ph Or do not hesitate to contact me and I will help you. But be sure to make reservation 3 months before your arrival. They are always in demand.

I will recommend malate area. a lot of bars, restaurants, different activities and accessible if you go to other places. there budget hotels too. for further assistance on the accommodation, pls send me email at lindaltan@yahoo.com - im a travel agent in Manila

There are plenty of budget hotels and lots going on in and around the Malate / Ermita area.

there are many happenings in metro manila. especially during weekends. go to places like eastwood, metrowalk,baywalk, timog, quezon avenue, greenbelt, gateway. All these places have wide array of bars offering live band, cool ambience, good food and choices of drinks. others have stand up comedy show.
you can find budget hotels in malate, cubao and ortigas.
