My negative experiences have far outweighed the positive. It seems they don't know how to find your stolen car (or even dust for prints if you find it yourself, as I did) or award custody to the right parent, or protect people who need protecting. It seems as if cops exist to collect revenue, and lawyers to groundlessly sue innocent people for all they have in the world. Tell me something that doesn't make me despair for the waste of my tax dollars in having such useless law enforcers.

I have had a mix of experiences with the police and the justice system. After all, the police and the justice system are (is?) made up of people like you and me. I would say that the people that I have personally known who are police officers or lawyers/judges do have a greater commitment to make their community a better place than the average book store clerk, college student, or ski instructor.

The only time I served on a jury, the District Attorney and her staff were prepared and professional. The police officers, prison officials, doctors, etc. who gave testimony at this trial were thoughtful in their responses and demeanor. The convicted criminal (who was bringing suit to get out of jail early) remains behind bars. Believe me, the country is a much better place with this criminal behind bars than out in the community!

Most of my experiences with police have been negative, but there is one officer here in town that I have had some positive experiences with. Once when I accidently backed into a car that was parked illegally in the alley, I went into the business next to where the car was parked and told the people there I had backed into a car. the owner of the car, a young girl, came out screaming at me. Her car was already a piece of Sh**, with dents all over it, and I had put a tiny dent possibly. I tried to calm her down and asked her if I could just give her my address and pay for the damage without the police. She screamed that she was calling the police because how could she trust me. Obviously, since I am honest and came into the restaurant to tell that I backed into the car I would be trustworthy, but she was hysterical and called the police, When the officer, officer Knight arrived, yes that is his real name, he calmed her down. I told him I did not have insurance, which I would get a ticket for a few hundred dollars for, since it's illegal to not have insurance. He told me he would not write the accident up because then he would have to give me a ticket for no insurance. He told the girl he had seen the accident she was in the day before,(he had been the officer called then) and knew what damage she already had to her car, so not to try to add that to this. He told her to take my number and get an estimate and let me pay for it. So officer Knight kept me from getting a ticket for no insurance. Also, officer Knight stood up for my kid when he was being blamed for something he didn't do. Officer Knight said he knew my kid was a good kid and believed him innocent.

I agree far to much of their valuable time is wasted on catching people who speed etc & only a few should be used in that area because there are not enough Police to fight crime etc but that would be the Governments fault for not having more Police.
I fully respect the police & I haven't ever had a bad experience with them but I know some people have
