This is funny as it seems to me the last cross league game had Hamilton beating Philadelphia...that was back in either the 70s or 60s, though.

Right now, simply due to the economics of the CFL not being able to compete with the NFL, not a chance. Right now with the revenue sharing and high priced talent in the NFL, they are superior even at the lowest franchise. Arizona Cardinals would likely hang 50 points if they took the field versus BC...this is if both teams played to their potential and not beyond.

The CFL has become more of a feeder league to the NFL, similar to the NFL Europe and the Arena League. The CFL may actually have a more exciting game, but the player talent just isn't there.

No,not one. The rules are different, and MAYBE it would take a half for the NFL to get used to CFL rules, but the better athletes of the NFL would take over. I am able to see many CFL games here in northern NY state, and I see a lot of players who played at colleges here in the U.S. who couldn't make it in the NFL. Look at Ricky Ray, the best QB in the CFL. He couldn't stick as a third-stringer with the Jets!

No way could the CFL compete.

If there was a Canadian Hockey League only in Canada and a National Hockey League only in the US, the NHL compared to the CHL would be like the NFL compared to the CFL.

You can't compete with a 10-times-larger market that can pay a lot bigger salary, even if the smaller game has better rules.

The fact that the CFL is older than the NFL matters not.

Hamilton beat Buffalo back in the 60's...But then again it was Buffalo.

As for now? Which rules do you play? Canadian or American? A CFL team could win playing Canadian rules and same goes with an NFL with American rules. So short anwser, no they probably wouldn't cut it in the NFL...HOWEVER if they were to play one game against each other, then they may have a chance.

Like many CFL players can't or couldn't cut it in the NFL, there are A LOT of NFL players who wouldn't be able to make it playing the Canadian game.

the entire cfl, couldn't beat the arizona cardinals

not against canada, just the CFL

i bet marshall faulk, even injuried could skool any person let alone the whole cfl

Give the CFL equal footing in terms of revenue, and the
answer would be yes. For most of their history, the CFL
actually was the better paying league. It wasn't until about
the mid 1980s when the NFL actually surpassed the CFL
in terms of the ability to pay. Look up the names Tom Cousineau,
Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, Vince Ferragamo, Johnny Rodgers,
and Raghib "Rocket" Ismail of high profile US players who chose the CFL over the NFL at some point in their careers. Warren Moon and Doug Flutie spent a significant portion of their careers in the CFL, and so did Jeff Garcia.
Based on the way the two leagues are set up, the answer would be probably no. They should have one game played in
Canada under CFL rules, and one game played in the USA under
NFL rules, and make it a two game total points series to find out
which team would come out on top. I think the CFL teams would
have an easier time to adjust to the NFL than the other way around, for the simple fact that most of the CFL players are
American and are familiar with US-style football. Most NFL players probably aren't familiar with playing Canadian football.
That unfamiliarity might tilt things in favor towards the CFL teams
to make up for the talent discrepancy.

Honestly, it depends if they played Canadian or American rules. It is a common misconception that every player in the CFL must be worse than every player in the NFL. That's way too broad a generalization.

Because of different rules (larger field, 3 downs, forward motion by receivers before the snap) – and both sets of rules grew organically, by the way, the Canadian rules are *not* a modified version of the American ones – the CFL favors a completely different type of player. Usually smaller and faster. Whereas in the NFL, size is generally the top priority.

Generally, players in the NFL will definitely be better. But if you threw them on a CFL field and made them play with a different set of rules against players better suited to them, it wouldn't be automatic.

No because the CFL is nothing but a bunch of NFL wash ups and wanna be's. The CFL can keep Ricky Williams.
