While the original trilogy (Eps 4-6) was claimed by Lucas to be the middle of a 3-part story (each part containing 3 episodes), Lucas stated that he was finished with the storyline when Episode 3 (Revenge of the Sith) was complete and that he never really intended to make 9 movies. Fans already had this inkling when Lucas began approving stories for the Expanded Universe...starting with a book that takes place immediately after Return of the Jedi (Episode 6). There were always rumors that a 7th movie might be made, though fans can't seem to agree if it would take place years before Episode I or years after Episode 6. As of now, LucasFilm Limited has repeatedly denied any further movies, however, they also denied the possibility of any more movies after the original trilogy was completed. For now, fans will be able to continue to enjoy the Star Wars world through the live action television series which is slated to begin airing next year.

well lucas has said he's through with it.
but there is something i heard about one time.
I heard of a guy who ran into Lucas on a beach not long after Ep 3 came out.
He asked him if he would ever do Star Wars again after the tv series.
there is one other thing you might find interesting.
I have this from a number of sources.
there is word, that in about 1975 Lucas wrote a book (unpublished) that had 9 chapters to it (or parts). Then in about 1977 he broke them down into 9 episodes.
But i do know this.
Ep 1-3 was writen in script form in 1983. it was slightly diffent from today but i know for sure 2-3 were followed pretty closely.
I have seen the scripts for 2-3 missed reading 1 because i couldnt afford to buy them at the time, but came upon them a few years ago again on a web site.
Lucas said he might someday but no plans anytime soon.
He then asked Lucas if it would be a preqeul or a sequel.
He said that the only thing he would probably ever consider is a story thats 800 years before Ep 1. the original Sith wars where Yoda helps win it.

I sure do hope so.When Ep.3 came out it was a bittersweet moment in that it was cool to see how Vader came to be but then it was sad thinking that this was also the end of an amazing saga.
But I still have hope that good 'ol George will still come out with some more Star Wars movies.Hopefully what clomtancy found out is totally true because I think that a movie about that Sith wars would be really cool.I also cant wait for the t.v. series I hope it is good.

The problem is that the cast has to be willing to reprise their roles as Luke Leia and Hon Solo and the writers have to be able to bring in the final trilogy in in a hurry like Lord of the ring. Not to mention the point of the final trilogy is already out there in the form of the Matrix. At this point it would be a complete rewrite to finish off the trilogy with anything original. But Hey I am willing if they are out of ideas. I have plenty.

Someone will, although maybe it won't be George Lucas. It's too profitable an idea for nobody to do it.

Yes but not until George Lucas dies. Lucas already said he won't do them and probably we don't want him to anyways.
