Men are often raised in the John Wayne tradition. This is supported by every movie TV show and magazine we encounter growing up. Until parents give equal value to kids of both genders, the problem is likely to continue.

I think it's because men don't have a nesting instinct. I read that women will clean in their 'down' time while men are more likely to surf the net or play video games

WOMEN ARE THE NEST KEEPERS. MEN HAVE GROSS MOTOR ABILITY FOR HARDER WORK.
Women have fine motor control for housework and a mind for raising kids, its built in. I'm sure some ladies would disagree

You sound like my wife. ;o)
Anyway, personally, yes I do have some difficulty doing household chores not because I don't want to do them but because I have a different method of doing house chores from my wife and that causes minor friction in the house.
