We never apologize for any other emotion except for getting choked up. Anyone know why?

A few reasons I can think of.

We spend a lot of our times pretending we're stronger than we are, and it all goes to waste when we break down and cry in front of other people. We feel a need to defend our humanity and apologise for the tears.

Perhaps we don't want to burden others with our emotions, so we try and keep them to ourselves and apologise for letting them out.

Sometimes we just *need* to cry, or we'll break down and do it regardless. Some people might apologise for that need to be emotional.

I'm sure there are more, but really it depends on the circumstance.

It's one strong emotion that makes you more self-conscious and aware of others than similar strong emotions. Anger, for instance, is usually pretty self absorbed. Your not in a tender moment, and you don't really care what other people think.

That's how it is for me, anyway.

PS--Apologizing when crying can also sometimes be slightly manipulative. It's fishing for pity.

Usually because if we are choked up we have lost all control over our emotions.

I've often wondered my self. I think maybe it is to get a second to "get a grip", and kinda cause we feel embarrassed to let our emotions display like that. It is sad we feel bad or ashamed when letting our vulnerability show.

when we get damaged our sacred feelings by others, our emotional feelings get filled and spilled through our eyes . being to uphold our our standards , we tolerates the damage and told them sorry and also especially, when the loved ones hurts our feelings very much

Yes I do know why. crying is spiritual. It comes out of the heart. People do not want to be spiritual. We are spirit. We need to let our spirit rule over us, not our mind. People say sorry because they don't want people to think they are spiritual. We want to look tough and normal.

It's usually not acceptable to break down in tears mid-conversation.
