When its windy outside, some of the air vents at the top of my double glazed windows make a strange creepy howling noise. I've tried opening them+ closing them. How can i stop them making this noise? Great sound effect for horror or sci-fi movie! Lol.

I had the same problem with uPVC double glazing. Noise was definitely coming from my vents - quick and easy although not ideal solution is to unscrew the vents on the inside - cover with sellotape, put vents back and hey presto - no noise.

if opening and closing them doesn't change the level, it is probably not where the noise is coming from. Is your house haunted? no, just kidding! The wind noise has to be coming from another spot. It could be the windows, not the vents.

Try vacuuming the air vent out..it maybe an insect or other debris that's got trapped inside.

The air is blowing through some hole and that creates the howling sound that you are hearing, sounds like a banshee.!!!
Call a carpenter in and examine the roof, etc.!!!
