Taking off.

High Flight

John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

The 1st time I flew, I was a nervous wreck, and didn't know what to expect. I was warned about the takeoff, but when my head got pushed back into the seat and we lifted off, other than my ears popping was all there was to it. On starting the decent, was quite horrible for me. When the plane would drop down, my lunch would rise up. I got so extremely sick, I didn't think I'd be able to hold it in. The second we got off the plane, I was sick all over the ladies room.

2nd time I flew, I prepared for the sickness with a patch, but had a tiny plane this time, and found the take off to be horribly scary. We'd ascend, then it felt like we floated for a split second, then dropped out of the air for long enough that everyone's face was panicked. This happened quite a few times - enough to wonder if we were going to stay airborn.

Since I officially hate and am terrified to fly, I'd have to say that neither is to be desired, and agree with one of the earlier answers that landing means you made it through the flight. ;)

I prefer taking off, it's a cool feeling to know that you are not on the ground any more. Landing isn't too bad though. I just love to fly.

Taking off is the better experience for me. I love the feel of the power and getting pushed in the seat.

Landing because it means that I didn't die during the flight! lol (Yeah, I'm extremely phobic about flying.)
