when i first plug it, it works normally, but then after 5-10 minutes or so, it starts to act strange. with NO programs running at all, it makes heavy noises, as if it's running some very heavy programs or processing large amount of data. the red light blinks like hell, then it actually becomes constantly red.
what could be wrong? what should i do?

How long have you had this computer? Has it always been acting like this? I had a laptop that wouldn't stop whirring... it got pretty annoying. So, if it's an old computer, maybe it has a virus or something. But if it's new, it could be the design... I wouldn't be too scared... if you get really nervous about it, go to the Geek Squad (Best Buy) or something like that. You can get it fixed or you can buy another computer. :D I hope I helped!

Most probably you need to repair your Hard Disk or replace it. Sometimes.... due to fault in Fans that keeps your PC cool... also gets jam and due to that it can not cool your PC/processor, so it starts behaving abnormally. So get them oiled too.

crtl/alt/del to get to the device manager and see what is using all that cpu. I suspect you have a virus with no other information.
