It's not *too* late to be a model. However, you will not be a high fashion model, for the most part.
There are several different type of models for 'older' women.
There are commerical models - think car commericals/ads, skin cream commericals/ads, cigarette ads, catalogue layouts, etc.
There are also runway models and editorial models. Some magazines like 'older' models for their clothing sections to relate to their reader. Local malls and companies may also need women of all ages to show their clothes.
If you are in fantastic shape, many athletic magazines and athletic like fitness models of all ages. Again, it relates to a specific demographic.
Call a modeling agency. Ask if they do open calls. Visit with a few snapshots. DO NOT pay for classes or for out of sight portfolios shoots, etc. A reputable agency makes money off of you working, not off of classes and photos.
Good luck to you and I hope that you succeed! : )

Oh,hell,no!It's not too late! Have you looked at More Magazine's 40 Plus Model Search? Why not start with them? There are still very many ways to get into this field, although there are of course some branches that you probably won't be admitted to.
More grease to your elbows,my sister in late-starting-on the-modeling-road.Better late than never.

Talk to a model scout, explain your situation. Ask her how often they get new models who are older. Obviously you'll not be modeling for Guess?, but maybe some clothes catalogs for more traditional stores, or something like that. I might point out that only 1 in a million modelling-hopefuls end up paying the bills with their modeling career. It's not very lucrative. But if you're still serious about it, contact your local modeling agency. Good luck.

It's not too late to do some modeling, but most modeling is a young(er) person's game, sorry to say. But you can probably find some work if you try. Why not just go for it and see what you can do rather than just accept anyone's opinion -- including mine -- of what you can do?

I think some department stores may want your business. You will have to get an agent if you want to have a chance at success.
Why don't you open your own agency, and advise, train, and be an agent for young ladies? Your maturity may help, and if you have organizational and business skills, you would make much more money than just trying to shop your own individual model services around.

Get an agent. You will need head shots to send to potential advertisers but you could always do print ad modeling. This would usually include product promotion such as laundry detergent, food products, etc.

You could possibly do some print work for mature women. It depends on your look and proportions.
