Markkanen's young and has potential to develop into a good goalie. Did you miss last year's finals? He was sensantional, considering his last start was on March 1, 2005. If it weren't for him, the Oilers wouldn't have a chance. The 'Canes would have taken the Cup in four or five games. I'm sure if the Oilers are willing to give up Markkanen, many teams would wna tot have him. Edmonton did the right thing geting rid of Conklin and keeling Markkanen.

No, Markkanen has proven to be more than adequate (as in last year's Finals). Fans of the game universally overstate the impact of goaltending – especially backup goaltending. High-scoring and low-scoring games tend to have more to do with game-flow than the performance of the individual goaltenders.
