On toms hardware for call of duty 2 the intels showed up higher than the amd's. I am building a computer, and i have to make the major choice between amd and intel. Would intel be better for me, i would like to keep it under 100, but i could go up to 150. If you say AMD i allready know what kind i would get. The AMD dual core i would get is the windsor 2.0Ghz, 3800+ with 1mb cache, and the single core i might get would be the San Diego 3700+, 1mb cache. SHould i go with the AMD or intel, and if you say intel please specify which one i should get. And by the way i would be using it for gaming, and fileshare with a raid 0.

Simply put. If you want a gaming computer, AMD is the best choice. If you want an overall computer that is also gaming, Intel is best. But, if its strictly gaming, AMD.

If you're gaming, dual/quad cores are not the way to go. A single fast core is best. AMD and Intel are almost equal in performance these days -- Intel was on top for a long time, then AMD, and now Intel has pulled into something of a tie. I'm partial to AMD single cores and Intel dual cores, myself, but if you want gaming power you certainly want a fast single core.

For what it's worth, I'm using an Intel dual-core machine right now.

AMD has strong points on ripping, CD burning, gaming. Intel is average in ALL things. read this and you make your own choice if you go with Intel get a P4 if your price range is low if it is higher get pentium D if you want to go even higher Intel core 2 duo.but i would go with AMD. good luck and have fun with your new pc and building it. GOOD LUCK :-)

with the processors ur talking there u wont notice much difference if any in gaming trust me ... its all in the cards, the memory speed, and raid helps load times .... put two fast cards in sli if u want to game ... a mega top-of-the-line processor with a 7300nvidia will game like crp with the latest games .... a single core athlon64 cheapo processor on a sli board with two 7950s' will run circles around it... dont waste ur money on processors ... get the athlon dualcore and some good momory about 2gigs worth and overclock it alittle... load ur games and op system on a raid settup and u'll be happening ... put ur money in a good card or sli.

If you are going for cheap, buy the Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 1.86ghz. It has excellent performance when compared to the 3800+ for a comparative price, and is WONDERFUL for overclocking. I upgraded from a 3800+ to an e6300 1.86ghz and I am so happy. My next step is to overclock it to 2.8ghz.
