I live at the moment and in the future.
Life is a journey toward that destination, as you've mentioned.
I don't live life for that big cookie at the end.
I take detours here and there to help other people out, share a feeling of compassion, and maybe get a jolly rancher or two.
:)

Well, that all depends on why someone is working towards being more successful. Most people think that with all the wealth in the world they'd be completely content. And they're not necessarily wrong, just not for very long.
It's all biological, we there was a need for us to be successful in the past because only biologically superior men and women managed to breed. Nowadays the stakes have changed which means having more money to ensure this same reproductive success. Plus kids are expensive to raise.
So, to answer the question, we're not delaying happiness per se because you can never be TRULY happy. Just contented with certain achievements, be it romantic, personal or material.

Yes, i feel like that almost everyday. As human beings, we need to feel a sense of accomplishment. And that one quote comes to mind, "Success is a journey, not a destination." is so true. You have to strive towards success in order to enjoy it!
And we are depriving ourselves because we get caught up in the journey, and daily stresses and trying to get there, that we forget why we started out in the first place. It is very difficult (nowdays) to live in the moment, and appreciate what we have and what we are striving towards because life is so fast-pased.

Folks,
I have been reading a lot of forums and it seems a lot of people are struggling in their pursuit of happiness. In recent times, economists have also started questioning the traditional models of growth and their ability to make people happy.
I think it’s important that we start building a community where the primary goal is to help each other attain happiness.
I searched on the net and came across www.myhappiness.com. It seemed to offer articles about happiness. There seemed to be a concept of a happy online community as well.
Is anyone here aware of something similar? What do other folks think of the idea?

All because of desires and no satisfaction with what people have. This ability is to come from God(Jesus) if only believe that He is sufficient for them. The devil is always tempting people to do something which make them not happy. He does not want people to be happy, but God wants His people to be happy that is why he has given many promises and make that happen when they believe.

You better make the journey fun...you might die before you reach perfection. If the sacrifice makes you miserable - it is not worth doing.
