life long liverpool fan here.
saw every champions league game and uafa game for last 4 seasons so before anyone questions what im about to say i want to clarify im not an armchair supporter!

Rafa is at the moment trying to make the best of a bad situation, lets not kid ourselves we do not have a world class squad! we have 5 maybe 6 world class players.

Gezza, Cara, Finnan, Risse, and posibly Kuyt and Sissoko the rest would not get in to any other prem team with out a fight!

and untill we get some propper cash from somewear to buy some great players we wnt catch the top 2.

also lets not forget liverpool is still a Ltd company not a PLC like the other to 25 teams in europe but to become a PLC and get the cash we will lose the controle and roots we currently have

out of the top 25 earning teams of 2005 liverpool where the only none PLC!

also Rafa is buying what he knows hes a spanish bloke and buying spanish players this is not difficult to understand if i managed in spain i would buy english player because thats what i know. so we have to give there plays a little extra time to settle in to the english league. but i also agree that some are not pulling thier weight. Garcia for a start is nothing more than a big game showman.

but finaly we as liverpool supporters have never been ones to critisise a manager we are not united of everton fans are we.

we are the fans who will sing out losing side of the pitch and as for raffa he has done what only 5 english based managers have done in history and thats wine the cream de la cream European cup.

we must remember who we are and what he has done for us a fith european cup.

Sir Alex was nearlly sacked after 3 years and now we learn he almost joined spurs a year later but they stuck buy him and his 20 years in charge have let united get a good foothold on our records and trophy cabernet.

now lets give Rafa some time lets suport him through thick and thin and lets remember we never walk alone and nor should Rafa

Seems to me that Rafa is undoing all the good work done last year, where Liverpool showed an amazing improvement. Yet, though I still have faith in the gey, I am mystified by his selection. Perhaps, it's time for a natural striker to be included in the squad, and by that I mean Robbie Fowler. Neways, I would also move Gerrard to the middle, but there's only Pennant on the right. I would also like to see Bellamy play more often, I know he's down in confidence, but his speed is what other Liverpool strikers lack. Moreover, playing Mark Gonzalez against Eboue was a bad idea, since both are lightning fact. So, all in all, I would put a more attacking formation with 3 defenders, 5 midfielders and 2 strikers.
GK: Reina
Defenders: Finnan - Carragher - Agger
Defensive midfielder: that would have been Sissoko, but now I would prefer to use Sami Hyypia
Right Midfielder: Jermaine Pennant
Central Midfielder: Xabi Alonso
Left Midfielder: Bolo Zenden
Strikers: Kuyt - Fowler, and sometimes put Bellamy and Crouch in the play.
Why don't we include some players from the academy such as Craig Lingfield, Lee Peltier, Paul Anderson and Adam Hamill to inject new blood in the team?
I'm not too sure about rotation, coz it's not working...

I must admitt, i do like Rafa Bennitez's a lot, his way's of coaching, but to me he seems to ahd lost's the player's confidence lately, especially playing away.

If Liverpool were allowed to play all 38 league games at Anfield, they would be serious serious contenders for the title, i can not understand there problem.

They play good, solid, attacking football at home, and immediatrly as soon as they play away, it's almost as they are playing for a draw.

If you play like that away from home, if you concead a goal first, you are always up against it, but when this happens with Liverpool, the management don't change tactics straight away, they wait till they go 2-0 down before changing anything.

If things arn't going right for you, Bennitez dosent strike me as being a manager who will try and understand his players, he seems to distant from his players to form a decent attack on the premiership.

For me, the best Liverpool starting 11 should be

Dudek, Has being treated harshly since instanbul by Bennitez

Finnan, Good, solid performer, never lets you down
Carragher, Mr Liverpool in my opinion, play's with heart
Agger, Inexperience, but Hypia lacks pace and is the main culprit
Rilse, Fantastic player, great engine, great shot

Pennant, very fast, skillful, works hard, sometimes final ball lacks
Alonso, this man is a diamond, pulls the strings, underated
Gerrard, only centre can you get the best, best in world
Gonlaez, i like this lad, one for the future, great pace

Kuyt, Heads, shoots, great pace, tracks back, Anfield legend?
Crouch, great team player, provides opitions for midfield

Did you see as soon as pennant came on Steve g went back to central midfield and look what he did . When is benetez going to coincide and admit that that is where he plays best Hansen pointed out why doesn't he listen. The game flows when he is in Central Midfield and he see more of the Field you let Steve Lose and he will punish you. next is our defence Hyppia and Jamie were making school boy mistakes letting in Kolo Toure like that and not picking up Galas. There goes another season

Whats lacking is startegy. The short passes from defence to midfield and then long passes to forwards is ruining the game. Stevie G should be playing in centre as attacking midfielder. Crouch is not consistent, and none of the strikers can dribble the ball or take on players like Henry, Rooney & Drogba. Mark Gonzalez, Pennant and Zenden not good enough. Need a total revamp.

im not a liverpool fan, but i think playing gerrard in the middle is a must...i think rafa should go back to basics & pick the same team, which he believes is his best , to play 5/6 games in a row & go from there...he should do wot most other managers do & go for the central spine of the team...reina,hyppia,carragher, gerrard & kuyt...then pick the rest of the team around them...i also think that liverpool always look better when luis garcia plays...

Zenden is useless.
Alonso is having an awful season.
Gerrard should be in the centre.
Crouch has always been a waste of space.
Having said that our away games have all been difficult & up until going 1-0 down we were doing fine.
Tricky game against Boro, but up unitl xmas we should win nearly every game & go up to 4th place.

i dont mind the changes but he soesnt have to change the whole group...he should have change 1 or 2 only.....garcia can play the wing but i think alonso should play midfield defense.gerrard attack midfield...pennant can play the other midfield because he got the speed....carragher and hyppia play centerbacks...while riise and finnan play the sides...while the forwards are not consistent....kuyt is ok....bellamy,fowler and crouch not consistent...still to say that i think my chosen team right now also not so strong...but it might be consistent.
