Neither...I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and although enormous pain and suffering were caused all that pain and suffering made people grow, made people aware, it created a chain of events that triggered some others and so on. Nothing would be the same if we changed something back then and fear of what would happen is far worse than knowing what did happen.

Probably Hitler's rise to power. However, even though it obviously had a major negative effect on history, perhaps there was a hidden positive that we don't know about and preventing his leadership could have done worse damage elsewhere.
