If those two reflections want more than anything to pursue acting, and it's undeniable and you can take rejection and don't care a whit for making a dime, but just want to act.. then.. go to the yellow pages and find Second City and Steppenwolf. The former is an improv company where a ton and a half or more of amazing comedy actors have risen from. It's a laboratory for experiments and work.
Steppenwolf is a theatre company where you will go for what some call 'serious' acting. If you are over the age of 18 and can handle a toilet brush, go to Steppenwolf and ask to sweep the stage and clean the toilet. Ask to work in the box office and ask to find out about the history of the theatre.
If, on the other hand, you want some part time work to become a star and make a million bucks, go back to those first reflections and do a reality check. Working in film is a craft that comes with hard work and talent. There are no guarantees. The film business is fickle and pretty unforgiving.
If you still want to find your way into a movie, after all this discouragement, then, go for it. You'll be hungry and taken advantage of and curse the day you had the notion that this was a good idea, but... seeing your self on the screen and your name in the credits is an incredible feeling.
And.. study accounting and tax preparation, if you are really interested in eating and paying your rent.

Take acting classes and audition for films that are shot in Chicago. Ask your acting teacher where you can find Chicago auditions. There is probably a newspaper or online information with casting notices.
