First, Why do you want to open it.
Second, It's part of your exhaust system.
Third, It does not effect your exhaust system unless it's plugged.
Forth. If it's plugged, your engine is at fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gutting out the catalytic converter will NOT increase performance, as the story goes. It will make your exhaust noiser and a target for police since they will probably know that your cat is missing or gutted, and if i is, it goes right to the impound. If you breathe in that **** from inside the cat, I hope you love hospitals because you'll go straight there after you open it. And no they are not easy to open.

Almost every cars should have Cat converters. It is a law in U.S and its illegal to drive on the road if you don't have one in your car (racing and offroad cars are exception)

And why would you want to open the cat converters? All you're going to find are whole bunch of black dust, and charcoal like stones. Besides, it really bad for you if you inhale them.

If you still want to open it, you just cut the cat converter with the saw machine

The system is welded if your seeing the heater pans that go around the cats they are welded or bolted. There are no reason to open the cats unless you are removing the platinum pelits for cash.

there is no reason to open one up, its not like there are parts in it you fix or replace. when one goes bad, you replace the entire unit.

do you open up a muffler and replace its guts when it goes bad? Least I hope you don't.
