Heavy periods can cause you some medical problems. First what do you consider heavy?? If you are changing your tampon every 2 hours and it is full then that is heavy, or if you use pads and you need to change your pad every 1-2 hours that is heavy. If you are seeing large clots then that is heavy. If this is happening then you may want to see your doctor to have a blood test done to check your blood levels. Hemoglobin tells you how much blood you have in your body. If that level is low then you may need iron or a blood transfusion if the level is really low. Sometimes your doctor can put you on a low dose birth control pill to help slow down the flow of your period. So best thing to do is talk to your doctor about this issue and let your doctor decide what is best for you.Good luck to you..

You can take midol a week before your period starts, you may need to change your diet and exercise more. If you feel like it, you can take a brisk walk or do some exercise. Or talk to your doctor about birth control, it will make you periods lighter and shorter and cramps wont be as bad, if you get any. Birth contol is the only thing that really worked for me, but I have severe cramps.

Get on a moderate protein, low glycemic carb, monounsaturated fat, 2 liter a day water, diet at least 2 weeks before your period is due to start. Keep it up during your period too.
Check out the library link at www.hufa.org for some book suggestions containing this sort of diet.
