When a pet food company puts on their packages, "Gourmet flavor" who is determining this? SUre, they might test the food on animals but how do they know if the animals really like the food...? Do they actually have humans trying it or something?

Have you ever wondered this? Just wondering is all. Thanks

one. it's marketing. two, i believe it has to do with the ingredients. Most soft dog and cat food is just a bunch of ground up left over animal parts from cows, pigs etc. Like the really gross stuff. I think the gormet part is telling you they use healthy more meaty parts of animals, like instead of pig intestines and blood they use real bacon, etc. Real veggies too. They make it like they would a little meal, not the outcome of some ground up random animal parts.

There are actually people who's sole job is to serve as a taste-tester for dog and cat food companies. I saw a show about it on t.v. a long time ago. The guy who had that job took moist cat food and spread it on a cracket and ate it. He said that he liked the flavor so much that he had contemplated serving it to guests as a cracker spread at an upcoming party he was having at his house....GROSS! Remind me to never go to a party of anyone in that line of work!

They let the animals starve for a day and then put types of food in front and which ever animals don't eat, are considered regular
