Is it true that hot candle wax is good to pour on a baby's gums? My sisters toddler is teething and her doctor told her to light a candle and then pour the hot wax on the babys gums to sooth the pain of teething. I had never heard of this before. Is this a good rememdy for teething?

Tell your sister to pour the hot candle wax on her own eye balls. Geesh, don't do that to the poor baby.
Buy some baby anbesol and tough it out with the rest of us. There are no quick fixes with parenting!

i wouldnt dare to do that ive bnever heard of hot candle wax for teething.. I was going thru the same problem with my son who is 7 months and has the two teeth at the botttom and is growing teeth at the top. I use Baby Oragel the regular formula and the night time formula it is great .. i LOVE IT cuz it took away the pain and the frustration from my baby with his teeth. Another thing that can help is the teether toys where u can put it in the refrigerator and give that to him..but my best bet is Baby Oragel.

put some brandy on ur finger and rub it on the babies gums that will work better than wax. I don't know where ur sister heard that from but that is danger to the babies gums and when wax hardens he or she could choke on it dont do that no more just put the brandy on it , it is and old remedy my great, great grandmother taught me and i have done it for all my children and no it will not get the baby drunk it will just get numb and help the baby sleep better because the gums will be numb.trust me i have 4 children of my own and i have tried almost everything out there and the brandy was the best.

I have to agree with the others! Report that doctor and find a new one! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! Try anything you find in the store for teething but DO NOT under any circumstance pour hot wax in ANYONE'S mouth!

Do me a favor, light a candle let the wax melt, and pour it over your finger. What the hell kind of doctor is this??? Hot wax burns. I would not recommend it at all, and your sister needs to find a new doctor, this one sounds like an idiot.

I would NOT try this.....Pour hot wax on to your hand or maybe into your own mouth before you try it your baby...seems like to would be hot and I think might border on abuse if you did this for a child
You know you might want to try some old fashion stuff ....ambesol ororajel...maybe a frozen ice pop ( with constant supervision i baby is real little).
the one thing that always made my babies happy is take a washcloth get it wet and put it in the freezer....once it is frozen let the baby play with it and gnaw on it...it helps by numbing and also forces the cut through of the teeth....good luck!!

NO ...go get a teething ring and keep them in the freezer. The cold numbs the pain. The wax theory sounds stupid...it would burn then you would have to rip the wax off.

that doctor needs to be reported. That is child abuse. Would you pour hot wax on your gums? I doubt it. Tell your sister to get a new doctor NOW!!

OMG NO!!! I don't know who this Dr. is or where he got his supposed medical degree but that is absolutely not the thing to do!! We're talking potentially BURNING this baby's lips, mouth, gums or even face if it came in contact w/ it. PLEASE tell your sis not to do this.

FIRST, she can use the old-timey remedies like a cold cloth and teething rings and even use the baby orajel or baby tylenol if the baby is really miserable.

SECOND, she needs to find a new doctor!
