A store is having a promotion where when you buy a bed you get a free foundation. Is that like a box spring or an actual bed frame minus the head and foot boards?

Its what gives your mattress support, Most top end beds have foundations built into them.

No, it's about three feet of concrete. Enough to get below the frost line. Although if the store is cheaping out on you, they'll try to use cinderblock.

i think it is a base that the bed sits on i think tho I'm not sure

it can be anything.....
just 4 boards nailed together sitting on floor
or plastic frames used a lot today.

just ask or look................
