Bush and his cronies are not very good at diplomacy or cooperation. It's not surprising that the rest of the world would not be happy with a country that's taken such a "my way or the highway" stance. After all, we haven't signed the Kyoto treaty, we won't talk to countries we don't like, we call the UN names and bully them while refusing to pay our dues (uh, that predates the Bush era, but still), we've got people who claim that the Geneva Conventions are "quaint", and we've decided that's it's perfectly okay to wage pre-emptive strikes on sovereign nations without UN approval, which is something that's been a huge no-no ever since WWII. Frankly, we've not been good world citizens, largely because of the Bush administration. I think the world hopes the Dems are like their colleague, Bill Clinton, who is, if nothing else, very good at making friends.

It is because the American government, under the leadership of GW Bush, has been more unilateralist than in the past. This has produced an uncomfortable and strained set of international relations - and some animus toward the U.S. GW Bush has made many tactical errors. He is not very intelligent, and thus was not able to appreciate the likely results of his policies. He has no real understanding of human rights, and is thus harshly criticized by many intellectuals all over the world, but especially in Europe. Other governments and peoples are glad about the president's party getting a rebuke last week in the elections because they think it will probably get better now. It is very, very unlikely now to get worse. The people of other countries probably feel that maybe the American people share some of their perspectives - perhaps evidenced by the election results.

Perhaps we should ask that woman and her child in Iraq who need to suffer unnecessarily due to policies formulated by Washington; drafted by the legislative and executed by Bush. There are more people either killed or whose lives are adversely affected as a result of the Bush administration's war policy onto Iraq than, say, the number of disenfranchised people under the then Saddam regime.
If America is planning a revenge on 9/11 'terrorists' she has gladly even the score as there are more people killed in the invasion of Iraq. God knows what happened to Saddam's weapon of mass destruction; it could have hit New york a long time ago if it ever existed.
The American people have no idea the consequences of their decision in voting in their leaders because it never affects them directly in any manner. They are busy fussing over their 'whaddabout me' needs like crybabies and remain oblivious to a world that remains in unrest as a result of their decision.

The question you should be asking is, "why are the terrorrists so happy that the Democrats won"?
When al Queda issues videos thanking the American people for electing Democrats, that's not a good thing.
As for the rest of the world, they hate the U.S....however, the feeling is mutual, and real Americans don't really care what they think.

"Most of the world" is a pretty broad spectrum. How have you obtained your knowledge that most of the world is happy? I hope you don't say the newspaper or tv told you so, and that makes it fact.

Mostly because the rest of the world sees Bush for the incompetent man-child that he is, and haven't understood how otherwise smart people could continue to support him and his party.

They know that they are just as corrupt as terrorists. Have no clue how to run a country. ONly thing they're good at is raising taxes, flip flopping, being all for a war, then a couple days later being all against the war, and pointing fingers, and having sex in the oval office.
