Does U.S. immigration policy harm domestic workers? How should we change it?

i have a college paper due about this, but i'm oblivious to anything concerning immigration. any help?

Immigrants would stop coming illegally if people would stop hiring them. But the people who hire illegal immigrants are also folks who have a lot of influence with Congress because they're wealthy. They want to keep the cheap labor, and they'll pull campaign contributions for anyone who votes for real reform.

Of course it harms domestic workers. The illegals, the H-1B slaves and other imported low cost labor solutions drive down wages and push American workers out of jobs.
