he's still breathng but hes just sitting there and hardly ever moves around

Sprinkle salt in the water. It has revived my fish many times.

Is the tank large enough for him? Many people believe the BS that goldfish do fine in those desktop things. The do not. Goldfish should have a bare minimum of ten gallons of water per fish, and many experts say it should be fifteen to twenty gallons of water per goldfish. What filter do you use on the tank and how often do you do water changes? Goldfish are a messy fish--they produce more ammonia than tropicals and need a good filtration system and water changes on a regular basis.

They do that sometimes, but if that's all he does... than I'd say you need to check your water and make sure the pH and the nitrites are at a safe level.

And goldfish can have pretty long lifespan....20+ years....

He could be suffering from some internal bacterial infection thereby causing him to lose the ability to regulate his bouyancy. You might want to treat him with some anti-internal bacterial med like those from Interpet. See if it helps and hope it's not too late too. Good Luck.

Do you have a bubbler in the tank? sounds like a lack of oxygen to me

Goldfish don't have a long lifespan anyway. How long have you had him?
