Ganguly was Captain when Greg Chappel took over as Coach of Indian Team. However, there was some ego clash between Ganguly and Greg Chappal. Ganguly did not play in some matches citing injury problems and in his absence Rahul Dravid was appointed as Captain and that was end of Ganguly. He has not been performing well after that and as such he has not been selected in the Indian Team
