No, I don't think it should be a state -- too poor relative to the 50 states and far too crooked than even the worst of the 50 states, even worse than Louisiana and West Virginia.

They will over time, but how would they redo electoral votes it be more than 1 one house member to puerto rico. Most likely it will occur overtime because the benefits of commonwealth status will be less appealing when the taxes in the territory cant fix instruture in the next 30 years. Yet, Canadian provinces would better fit in as a state because their income are similar to low income red states. Puerto Rico income is half that of the poorest red state, but it only double the income of Mexico. Puerto Rico will become a state in time.

Puerto Rico voted not to become a state because they didn't want to have to pay federal taxes.I mean think about it. Why would you pay to become part of the United States, we're not all THAT good, i mean look at Bush, our people were stupid enough to pick him, so there probabley ashamed.

I think it should first be up to Puerto Rico.

Personally, I have no problem with the idea.

It would generate a lot of jobs replacing all of our flags with a 51 star version - good for the economy.

Peurto Rico has voted down Statehood because they don't want to pay federal tax. They are welcome to join the Union any time. It would be a good addition to our gene pool, they are some good-looking people.

Nor should they be allowed to have "national" teams in international sports competitions. Its not a nation.
