Generally, the ideal for safety is to have AWD, but that adds weight to the vehicle, which means less fuel efficiency. FWD cars tend to have the best economy, and are a good compromise for when you don't need the traction of AWD, but are going to be front end heavy and can't be driven with the same aggression if you want to be "impressive" or just foolish as the other drivetrain types. Handling depends on the settings of such things as the torque split setting, something like 60/40 seems to be the norm, the suspension and computer settings, of the AWD car. RWD is probably the best balanced, but will take a more refined foot to control well. The auto/manual debate is probably becoming moot with smarter autos that can understand driver intent and need, but if you need to override the auto for some reason, any problems doing so will likely make you wish for a manual.

If I were you, I would get an FWD auto, unless you live in an area with a lot of snow and rugged terrain, then go for AWD.

I own a 2006 Chrysler 300 C. I love it! Mine is a RWD, and it is like driving your living room. I live in Phoenix, so I don't experience snow, but I have driven in really hard rain where some flooding was involved, and I had no problems at all. I get about 18 mpg in the city, and about 24 on the highway.

Whatever car you get, just realise that the Chrysler 300M is FWD while all other 300s are RWD or in the case of the LX platform cars, RWD or AWD.

I would get awd, because it's safter for bad weather. fwd, in wet weather can make you lose control of the easly, and rwd, sometimes the car has a one wheel bandit, and uses the right or left side of the rear axle to turn harder than the other. I would worry about tires with a rwd. more gas in rwd

Do not get RWD for snow!!! Fwd is good in snow and also on gas. AWD is great for on/off road they are sometimes a larger vehicle and uses more gas. Subaru would be a good AWD
