im not sure how to do. im not sure weather i should go down the way the hair grows or up against the growth of the hair. if i go down i dont get the smooth feeling that i get form going up against the growth. the way i do it is i put on shaving cream, i go down with the growth then up against the growth its fine for about 12 hours to a day then the next day it gets all red and itches and hurts and just looks bad and ugly. i try after shave i put it on 3 times a day then twice a day the day after i shave.
is this normal? what i really want to know is how you shave? how can i improve what i am doing?

if it hurts after you shave against the grain, then don't. i usually shave down and then side to side to get the smoothest shave possible without hurting myself. shaving against the grain gives me razor burn too.
i used to shave against the grain when i was young so as to get that ultra-smooth face, but now my whiskers are too tough and even the split second after i shave, my face is still a little rough. i have never found aftershave helps the situation in anyway except to sting like a b@$tard. also, i only shave every other day, and sometimes only every 3 days. fortunate for me, my career choice allows this, but it also helps to give my face a break. i almost never get a rash now.

what i do is first go down my face w/ the razor a few times on each side, then i go against the growth of the hair so it is a closer shave...i just got the Quattro today and i really didnt like the razor the Mach 3 was better...

if u just started shaving then it is normal to get bumbs ans stuff or u can try different creams when u shave...

it could be the razor...like i said, i would get the mach 3...

electric shavers are more sensitive on the skin but they dont cut as close as a razor does...at least not for me...i like razors better...then again i like shiny sharp objects......lol....

if it is your first time then i would recommend getting an electric b/c u dont have so much hair but later on id get a razor...

Lots of men don't know how to shave properly. Take a look at the video at Bump Patrol's website to learn how to do it right. It all boils down to shaving in the same direction that your hair grows.

Try shaving downward, for a couple of days and see if that helps clear up your face, also you might try to stay away from the after shave as it also may be causing irritation from the perfumes that are in it. Good luck

The shaving cream might be a bad idea. Here's what you do. Go to the store and looking for shaving cream for sensitive skin. I think aveeno also makes one to clear up skint oo

Yes that is normal. Shave down I guess so you don't get razor burn. You will probably have to shave daily.
