I keep getting script message pop ups and sometimes one about the memory. Sometimes when the icons try to load all I have is a red x where the icon goes. I have a couple of favorites that wont open up. Its like its hung up trying to find the site. Whats the problem? My security software shows no problem.

You may need to scan your computer using more than one anti-spyware programs. Windows defender, Hijackthis, avg antispyware, ad aware se personal, spybot s&d etc. Not all spyware are detected by any one single program.

Sounds like your HOSTS file got 'manipulated' my something unwelcome. Run the free winpatrol from the link below. For your problem, look on the options tab and click the appropriate button to view your hosts file. If you never intentionally set anything here, it should be basically empty. If you see a bunch of 127.0.0.1 on the lines, you can comment them out with a # sign at the beginning of each line. You DO need the localhost line. SAVE directly in notepad.

After that, look in the startup tab and see if anything is loading on its own that shouldnt be. just disable if so and restart.

Make sure your AV is upto date and run a boot time scan. I recommend avast above all else (even norton and mcaffee).

Recheck your HOSTS to see if something changed again. You may have bigger problems.

THIS IS NOT A MEMORY PROBLEM
