i think working and earning money is a good way to learn the value of money and how to be responsible with it.....16 is probably a good time to start.....but really your never too young if you have the desire and the right type of job...i would suggest at 15 that you can start as a check out chick at a supermarket....but if mum says no help her around the house to earn a little pocket money.....that way she will be able to see that you are responsible enough...and who knows maybe she will change her mind.....

I have a 16 year old daughter and she has worked on and off since she was 13. Babysitting, she worked at Wendy's, she is a pet sitter. She now works at a book store.

Maybe your mom might let you babysit some weekend evenings? Try asking her if you can take a babysitting class at the Red Cross. Set a price per hour, spread the word and see if anyone calls you.

If your mom still won't let you work, ask her if you can volunteer. You could help an elderly person, volunteer at the library, walk dogs for the humane society, etc.

Show her you are growing up and that you are responsible. That might help.

I think 15 is a great age to get a job, it helps to learn responsibility. Maybe there's a reason behind why your mom doesn't want you to get a job right now besides age, such as it interfering with school. I would set your mom down and have a in depth talk with her. Always listen to your mom though, they're very wise and have been through life and have a lot to offer you.

I think 15 years old is a good age to start working. But since you and your mom cannot agree with you am sure a compromise, lets say volunteering in a group would be best. Not only would you gain work experience, or use it to decide what career you want to undertake in life, I am sure you can use the experience to gain extra merit, particularly when choosing some colleges and universities.

Honestly i think that the age of 14 is young enough when i was 14 i worked at a movie theater. And i worked there for 4years after that. I feel like this if you feel respondsible so are fine. But there is a down side to this lets see when i was working i had good grades. And growing up for me there was an agreement thta if my grades sayed up then my job did too. So i mean how ae your grades and maybe thats what shes looking at.

As soon as you're legally allowed to, I think. I got a job at 16 and have worked ever since. I don't regret it a bit. You appreciate money a lot more when you work.

I would wait until you turn 16. I think it is just easier to get to & from a job once you can drive. I got my first job at 16 & without a car it would have been impossible to do.

Personally, I'd put it off until a year before retirement age.
