depends sometimes the no name brands are just as good sometimes they are not

I try to be as no name as possible with clothes - i dont need/want to be a walking billboard, i even took duct tape and stuck it over the logo/brand name on my backpack. For gifts i sadly fall victim to getting people brand name things - for myself, in areas other than clothes, it all depends - like medications i think that generic are just as good as brandname, and are usually cheaper yet still made out of the same ingredients. But for other things, like food, and such once i find what i like i tend to stick with it, brandname and i'll, so i'm a pretty big hypocrite in this department!

look at the at what is in one and if the other has the same thing then it does not matter , it just means you are paying for the name brand like with medications it is do true. I would assume it is the same for other items as well!
