What does foreshadow mean? LIke for example, ''how does this event foreshadow?

Wow this question took me the entire 9th grade year to answer. It's simple like in a movie...The camera focus' or pauses at a certian object ex: a chair it's telling you that later something is going to happen too the chair or something's going to happen that envolves a chair. someone smash it or it's gonna trip someone. Foreshadowing is to hint at something to come. For instance, if a character dies at the end of a book, an author might give foreshadowing clues to hint at his/her death.

It means how does this event tell what may happen in the future. The sudden drop in temperature and the clouds could forshadow snow for Christmas Eve.
