Old DOS game DESCENT?

I can run this game using DosBox but how do I get the sound to work? There's only a limited selection for soundcards and music cards. Also, what do all the settings for the cards mean? Ex. Ports, DMA, IRQ? I really want to play this game the way I used to play it on my Win95 machine...

It should use the default settings. Have you got the most up to date version of dosbox?

DMA and IRQ are sound related. Everytime I changed these setting from the default setting I had problems.

dosbox doesn't run everything at this stage.
