It depends on your shift and how much customers want to tip. I know that lunch and dinner shifts are really busy and has more customers so roughly it could be about maybe 50-100 a day and if you work 2 jobs it could double.

I am a server in a higher scale restraint in the Florida Keys. I know it is probably above average but I make about 200 average a day in season here. I've bartender too andBartenders around that time make about 300. You can always make more than the 15-20 percent by the way. It just depends on how much you wow people. Personally I average about 28 to 30 percent but I bust my *** for tables and make sure they are always right and have everything they need with a smile. It is surprising how much more people are willing to tip when you give them more than the standard service most servers give. Good luck!

No your numbers are not right. I worked at a 3 star restaurant in Alpharetta GA. Menu pices ranged from 14-28 dollar. To make twenty dollars, a couple had to order a nice appetizer, entrees, a bottle of wine or a couple cocktails. Not every table is like that. You have people who order the $15 chicken and water. To let people know, waiters don't mind that. We don't always go out and speng $50 every night as well, so don't feel embarassed. And I enjoy having my water refilled a couple times too. On the contrary, you will sometimes get larger tables where a large alcohol tab is run up, and you will receive a larger tip. Personally we would average about $120 on weeknights and $150 on weekend nights during fall/winter nights. On average though I would estimate only 5% percent of waitstaff make that or more money a night. Always tip your staff well, we have to do a lot of work you don't see to keep, the experince memorable and enjoyable. And we have to tip out other people that our managers require we have.

Dennys isnt the best for tips but does usually have high volume.
You didnt state your age but if you could cocktail waitress or bartend at a decent location you can make hundreds on a good day 100 on a bad day. if your not old enough for that then apply at places that are more expensive since most people tip 15-20% of there bill. Also if there are Casinos in your area thats a good place for tips wether you serve food or drinks. Good luck!

It totally depends on where the place is located. Are we talking California, or Iowa? In California ish areas expect the tips to be more. In Iowa ish areas expect them to be way less. Also, if you have no experience being a waitress chances are that you will not be working at a place that will give you more than $50 a night in tips. If you're working at a high class restaurant that asks you to name 6 different types of edible mushrooms on your resume, expect much more per night. Good luck :)

I just want to start out by saying, you make as much as you want! The amount you can make as a server is truly limitless. I have been a server for the past 5 years and have been able to put $5,000 away in the past 9 months of working. I also want to state that I only work about 25-30 hours a week and my bills exceed $1,200 monthly! Serving work is also great for those who are seeking out other opportunities as well. such as; school, day job, late night jobs. The hours are extremely flexible and short.

If you are wanting to make that kind of money I don't recommend Denny's. You will want to go to a place that has a higher check average. The higher the check the more tips you should make. I would try some place along the lines of Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory or maybe even Red Lobster. Good Luck. and remember have fun and don't get stressed out over a buck!!!

$500 a week is above average. my husband worked two jobs waiting tables, one at a denny's type and one at a really nice place, and he didn't make that much a week. he got about $350-$400. some people don't tip at all, some blame you if the cooks are slow, it's not a nice job to have but generally you can make DECENT money. good luck. also be aware that with two waitressing jobs you will be very tired from running around all day.

i agree with everyone else...denny's is probably not your best choice of places to work. but if you don't have experience, they might be the kind of place to hire you anyway. servers can make incredible money. i have been a full-time waitress for years now and i never leave with under $200 a night. i'm also in nyc, though, and that certainly makes a difference. yeah, it's hard work, but the time goes by quickly and you can almost always pick up extra shifts if you are really willing to work hard...and if you're desperate for fast cash. good luck.
