Absolutely. A National Identification Card is long overdue.

Don't be misled by all of the paranoid arguments about invasion of privacy - if this was a concern, the Social Security Card would have been banned a long time ago - if it ever even came into existence at all.

A National ID Card to prove legal citizenship, voting rights, rights to public assistance, driver's license applications and so on.

I can't think of any legitimate reasons to oppose this - none.

I agree to a degree. National identities evolve with time, it's leaders, and it's people.

But I wouldn't worry, the states will always rock!

Yes! That's why I don't like to see illegal Mexicans marching in the streets and waving the Mexican flag. But it's not just limited to the Mexicans. Don't run from your home country and come to my country and tell me how good your homeland was! And learn to speak English! You're in the USA now and I don't have to change to accommodate you!

defintely not, just another step to Govt. control of our lives. Once they get this look for spot checks in all public places to identify yourself... Terrible thought.
