Just like little teacup chihuahua's an animal and man is an animal can throw off certain genes at any time compared what is in their gene pools. My sister has red hair and nobody else does except for my grandmother on my mother's side. Also the only way to be sure they are not lieing is to takt a hair sample or something, and take your hair to a lab for a DNA test. It can't be that costly if you want the truth. Does anyone in the distant family share your skin color. Watch their eyes when you ask to see if they look away or not. If they look away I would get their hair and have me a test done if it was bothering me much.

Sounds to me like the chances are pretty good that you are adopted..ask your parents what your ethnic lineage is. What country are you in? If you look hispanic, you could also be Native. Many Many Native and Hispanic children were adopted out ( and some even "taken") into other homes to be raised. Often the homes can be racist , so that could be a factor with the denial of ethnicity. Genetic DNA will prove all this. Afterall, you are supposed to be a product of your parents, so if they are your bio-parents, naturally you should look like one or either. Look at photo's of your grandparents etc.
Good Luck!

We'll it could all be recessive genes some relatives of yours must have had these traits and passed them on to you, and if your tan all the time it's either because you live in a place that is in the south where it's hot and sunny year round, or your adopted, but they would have told you when you confronted them, no your not adopted because a lot of my friends don't look like their parents. ask your mom and dad what all their ethnicity's are the might be darker race then they let on

You may be adopted, but it's very possible you aren't. Have you heard of recessive genes? Sometimes a dark gene like your own can hide for 4 or 5 generations, then suddenly pop out in someone like yourself.
However, if you are, in fact, adopted, it's rather inconsiderate of your parents to lie to you. Confront them directly when it's a good time to talk, and be serious, stating your argument. Ask where, if not another set of parents, you got your unique looks. Browse a photo album for somebody like yourself and pictures of your pregnant mother. There's your answer.

You could be adopted, but chances are your parents AREN'T lying. You will need to see your birth certificate eventually anyway, especially if you ever get a passport, so there's really no reason for them to lie. My parents both had dark hair, and my brother had bright blonde hair for many years. Neither of my parents have freckles, and I have about a billion. You are just full of your parents' recessive traits.

It is normal. A small percentage of people took over the parents resessive genes, that is taking over the opposite of the parents genes, making you look different from your parents. But if you really want to make sure that you are their kid, ask them to take a DNA test. Going to the hospital for the test might help. If not, ask your mom how does she feel like giving birth to you. If she only said things like pain, difficult, then you should try asking more.

You could look at your birth certificate and also get a DNA at some point if it still concerns you.
With the birth certificate, at least you would probably know if you are your mother's. She might have had an affair, but maybe she didn't.
It would cause a lot of hurts if it was brought up and it might not even be true.

What about the rest of your family, try looking at both sides maybe they may have receding genes that went to o you. My son doesn't look anything like me but has the same hair, eyes and skin color as my grandfather, people don't believe when I tell them that he is mine, they always ask "is his father white?"
Just investigate your own family, good luck
