I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I am looking to start customizing and working on my bike. I have become tired of the stock handlebars and position of the footpegs and I have thought about paying someone to change the handlebars and push the footpegs out further, but I feel like I should be the one to work on my bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Decide if you want different bars or if you just want to change out the risers. http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ You may be able to re-route and use the stock cables and wires. Consult with someone who has completed a similar project.
The actual work is not hard. You should have someone to hold the bars and should cover your tank with a towel.

The pegs are going to be a more expensive proposition. Check out some foreward control kits.

No not easy if you do not know what you are doing.. Also expensive. New bars, new brake hose, new throttle cable, new clutch cable. You have to move all of the electrics.. turn signal switches, starter and horn buttons, ect. If you want to do something custom buy something chrome that just bolts on..
